The Philadelphia Phillies are bringing in a familiar face to take over as the team’s hitting coach.
According to an official team announcement, the Phillies have hired for manager Charlie Manuel, who last managed the team back in 2013, to be the new hitting coach after the team dismissed John Mallee on Tuesday.
Manuel, 75, is the franchise’s winningest manager with a 780-636 record, and led the Phillies to a World Series Championship back in 2008, and led the team to five straight division titles.
Manuel was fired as manager, but brought back as a senior adviser to general manager Ruben Amaro in 2014.
