Kansas City Royals owner David Glass is reportedly negotiating a sale of the team to local businessman John Sherman for more than $1 billion, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
Glass, 84, is the former CEO of Walmart.
The Royals released a statement saying that it is “not in a position to make any comments on the published speculation regarding any potential sale of the ball club.”
The team also said that they would not be making any further statements at this time.
Sherman currently has ownership investment in Cleveland Indians and he would need to sell that in order to purchase the Royals.
