TNT President Says AEW Will Be Sleeper Hit

2 Min Read

AEW is set to arrive on TNT, debuting their two-hour weekly show on Wednesday, October 2nd from the Capital One Arena in Washington, DC.

While there is a ton of hype for the premier of AEW’s show, there is also belief that AEW can provide some serious competition for the WWE, and the kick off of their weekly show will bring the new promotion to a whole other level of competition that we haven’t seen since the days of the Monday Night Wars between WWE and WCW, which aired on TNT prior to WWE buying the promotion.

WarnerMedia direct-to-consumer chief content officer and TBS/TNT/TruTV president Kevin Reilly believes that AEW will be a sleeper hit on the network.

“All Elite Wrestling (AEW)” is going to be a sleeper” Reilly said, during an interview with Variety. “It’s very counter-intuitive to launch a new league at the height of the WWE. But I have a lot of reasons why it makes sense where the opportunity is. We’re not taking down the WWE but I think this is going to be surprising.”

AEW kicks off in Washington, before hitting the road for the next two shows that take place in Boston, Massachusetts and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
