Ty Lue Joins Clippers’ Coaching Staff
Former Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Ty Lue has signed on to join the Los Angeles Clippers’ coaching staff as a top assistant, according to The Athletic and Stadium’s Shans Charania.
Lue, who will be a top assistant under head coach Doc Rivers, was in consideration for the head coaching job with the Los Angeles Lakers earlier this year before negotiations broke off, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowksi.
Lue was reportedly seeking a five-year contract, according to Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes.
Lue went 128-83 as the Cavs’ head coach from 2016 to 2018 and led the Cavs to their first ever NBA championship, rallying from a 3-1 deficit, in the 2016 NBA Finals.
Cleveland reached three consecutive NBA Finals with Lue at the helm.
Lue was fired following an 0-6 start to kickoff the 2018-2019 NBA season.
