Vince Carter will be returning to the Atlanta Hawks as he closes out his legendary career and notches a record 22nd season in the NBA.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the 42-year old Carter will return to the Hawks where he will continue to mentor one of the leagues youngest rosters, which has seven players under 23 years of age.

Carter’s 22nd season will push him past the likes of Dirk Nowitzki, Kevin Garnett, Kevin Willis and Robert Parish, who all played 21 seasons in the NBA.

To make even more history, if Carter plays in a game in 2020, then he will become the first NBA player in league history to appear in am NBA game in four different decades, per Elias Sports Bureau.

Carter played in 76 games last season, and averaged 7.4 points in 17 minutes a game for the Hawks.
