Washington State’s Mike Leach Says Texas Tech Owes Him Money

Washington State football coach Mike Leach took to social media earlier this week and stated that Texas Tech, who fired him back in 2009, still hasn’t paid him.

Furthermore, Leak isn’t holding back on what he believes Texas Tech is hiding regarding the allegations that led to his dismissal.

According to a report from ESPN at the time, Leach was fired following his alleged treatment of Adam James, whose father was an ESPN commentator at the time, after he had suffered a concussion.

Texas Tech placed blame on Leach, with chancellor Kent Hance saying that “I’m very sad to say there’s only one person to blame for this and it’s Mike Leach.”

According to USA Today’s Brent Schrotenboer, Leach claimed back in 2017 that he received only the $300,000 owed to him for being fired “for cause,” although the allegations were never proven in court.

Leach believes he is owed $1.6 million in guaranteed money, with an additional $800,000 retention bonus.

“If they think it’s justified, let’s go to court,” Leach said back in 2017. “You prove your case in court. They don’t want to go near a courtroom because they know what will happen, because they flat-out cheated me. And they lied, and they stole.”
