Cowboys’ Dak Prescott Contract Extension Is ‘Imminent’

1 Min Read

The Dallas Cowboys have been focusing on locking up their prime talent on long-term contracts, and following the recent extension for running back Ezekiel Elliott, the team is now focused on quarterback Dak Prescott.

According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones believes that a long-term contract extension for Prescott is “imminent”.

The comments come following the Cowboys’ dominating win over the New York Giants 35-17 during their regular season opener on Sunday, where Prescott took center stage.

The fourth-year quarterback put on quite the show, throwing for 405 yards and tossing 4 touchdowns during the emphatic win.

While a contract may be on the way, the Cowboys will have to back up the money truck to get a deal done, as recent deals such as the extension for Los Angeles Rams’ quarterback Jared Goff may have upped Prescott’s price tag.

According to NFL Network’s Jane Slater, Prescott turned down a contract offer from the team that paid him $30 million annually, which was far off from his reported target of $40 million annually, back in August.

Those numbers have certainly changed since then, as has the market.
