Former Texas Tech Player Andre Emmett Dead at 37

Former Texan Tech star Andre Emmett, who was a standout player during this season of the BIG3 league, died on Sunday at the age of 37, according to ESPN’s Myron Medcalf.

According to a statement issued by Dallas Police, Emmett was confronted by two men while sitting in his car in front of his house in Dallas, Texas. One of the men who confronted Emmett displayed a handgun, then an altercation ensued and Emmett fled, but he was shot as he tried to get away.

Police say that a passerby found Emmett near his house and called 911.

Unfortunately, Emmett died at the hospital.

Witnesses indicated that they saw two men get into a white Chrysler and flee the scene of the crime.

Emmett was a second-round pick in the 2004 NBA draft after a stellar career playing for Texas Tech.
