Jets’ Jamal Adams Rips Jets’ General Manager

4 Min Read

New York Jets safety Jamal Adams is not too happy with general manager Joe Douglas, and the organization, after the team tried to deal Adams ahead of the NFL trade deadline despite Adams’ saying he expressed his desire to remain with the team during a meeting with Douglas and Jets’ head coach Adam Gase.

According to ESPN, the Jets had received an offer from the Dallas Cowboys of a 1st round draft pick for the Pro Bowl Adams, and were also engaged in talks with the Baltimore Ravens.

Adams didn’t hold back when addressed the situation on Twitter.

Douglas then commented on the now brewing rift between Adams and the team, making mention of Adams removing the Jets from his social media bio, and detailed what had gone down.

“Teams have been calling us ever since there was a social media issue a few weeks back,” Douglas said. “My message was clear, that Jamal was an absolute stud and we’re not interested in moving him. Teams continued to call. I was always taught where I’m from, if a team calls, you listen to what they have to say.”

The Jets didn’t just receive interest in Adams, as there was also interest in running back Le’Veon Bell and wide receiver Robby Anderson, with one team making an offer of a fourth round draft pick for Anderson, which was below what the Jets were asking; a second rounder.

Douglas said he spoke to Bell and Anderson after the deadline, and was planning on speaking with Adams as well.

“We were not shopping any of those players,” Douglas said.

Bell had been heavily rumored to be available, but following the passing of the deadline, he took to social media to state his happiness to still be a Jet.
