Malik McDowell Sentenced To 11 Months In Prison

2 Min Read

Former Seattle Seahawks defensive tackle Malik McDowell has been sentenced to 11 months in jail and will also receive three years probation after he pleaded guilt to a number of crimes that included a DUI, fighting with police officers, and a charge for stolen property, according to ESPN’s Brady Henderson.

McDowell said that he is “very remorseful” while he also stated his intention to make his way back to the NFL.

“I’m doing everything I need to do, seeing all the doctors I need to, working out…doing everything I can to get back to where I was, back to the NFL,” McDowell said, according to the Oakland Press’ Aileen Wingblad.

McDowell was selected with the 35th pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks, but never hit the field for the team.

Only a few short months after the Seahawks drafted him, McDowell was involved in an ATV accident that left him injured and on the non-football injury list for the first two years of his career.

The Seahawks waived McDowell back in March and are suing him in an effort to recoup a portion of his rookie contract.

Additionally, McDowell was suspended for two-games by the NFL earlier this year.
