Falcons Sign Todd Gurley

1 Min Read

The Atlanta Falcons are bringing in former Los Angeles Rams’ running back Todd Gurley less than 24 hours following his release, according to ESPN’s Vaughn McClure.

Gurley, 25, inked a one-year pact with the Falcons and now returns to Georgia, where he played college football with the University of Georgia.

Gurley rushed for 5,404 yards and 58 touchdowns during his five-year career with the Rams, adding in 218 receptions for 2,090 yards and 12 touchdowns as well.

However, Gurley appeared to be in a steep decline during the 2019 season, and it raised questions regarding his oft-injured knees and whether he may be unable to recapture, or come close to, the form he showed when he won the 2017 NFL Offensive Player of the Year.

Gurley’s performance in 2017 led him to signing a contract with the Rams that made him the highest paid running back in NFL history back in 2018.

Gurley rushed for a career-low 857 yards last season and was sidelined for the final two games of the 2018 regular season due to issues with his knee.

Gurley had knee surgery while he was playing with the University of Georgia.
