Panthers’ Christian McCaffrey Becomes Highest Paid Running Back

2 Min Read

The Carolina Panthers may have moved on from quarterback Cam Newton this offseason, but they ensured superstar running back Christian McCaffrey remained a part of their future by inking McCaffrey to a four-year contract extension, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and David Newton.

McCaffrey’s new deal is for an average $16 million per year which makes him the leagues highest-paid running back in NFL history. McCaffrey’s deal leads both Dallas Cowboys’ running back Ezekiel Elliott and New York Jets’ running back Le’Veon Bell among running backs.

The contract extension includes a fifth-year option, includes the two years remaining on McCaffrey’s rookie deal, and is expected to pay McCaffrey around $75 million over six years in total.

“I’m so excited to continue my career in Carolina,” McCaffrey said, according to ESPN. “I want to thank Mr. [David] Tepper, Marty Hurney, and Coach [Matt] Rhule for the opportunity to help lead this great franchise, and to all my teammates for their help along the way. And to Panthers fans, KEEP POUNDING!”

McCaffrey, 23, is clearly a big part of the Panthers’ rebuild, and future.

“Christian McCaffrey is a centerpiece player that you can build around,” Panthers’ head coach Matt Rhule said. “He’s going to be a special player for us.”

McCaffrey became the third player in NFL history to have 1,000 yards rushing and receiving in the same season in 2019, joining former San Francisco 49ers’ running back Roger Craig and Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk.

Becoming elite like McCaffrey among Twitch streamers and even Mixer streamers takes hard work, dedication, and a unique approach to content creation. The same can be said when it comes to esports players and even esports teams. Make sure your brand it on full display!
