Firefighters in Los Angeles, California have said that a body was found on Venice Beach on early Wednesday that matches the description of former WWE superstar Shad Gaspard who went missing on Sunday after he was caught in a riptide, according to KTTV-FOX11’s Mario Ramirez.

“The individual that was seen here on the beach this morning was an African-American male approximately 6’6, over 240 pounds. So, it matched the description of the missing swimmer that had gone missing during the rescue efforts that we conducted here on Sunday afternoon” the official stated in the video.

Per the report, family members began showing up at Venice Beach after the body washed up on shore less than a mile from where Gaspard went missing in the water.

Gaspard went missing when on Sunday when he got caught in a strong riptide at Marina Del Rey beach. Lifeguards were attempting to get people out of the water due to the conditions, and Gaspard was directing them to help his 10-year old son before attending to him.

Gaspard’s son was rescued and unharmed, but a larger wave overcame Gaspard.

UPDATE: the body has been officially indentified as Gaspard. We offer our sincere condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time.
