Seahawks, Marshawn Lynch Discussing Return Next Season

2 Min Read

The Seattle Seahawks and the agent for free-agent running back Marshawn Lynch have been discussing a potential return to the team in 2020, according to ESPN’s Brady Henderson.

Lynch, 34, unretired for a second time prior to Week 17 of 2019 with the Seattle Seahawks when injuries deeply depleted their backfield. Lynch played in 3 games for the Seahawks, rushing for 67 yards and 4 touchdowns after a 14-month layoff.

“Well, it’s almost on that ‘expect the unexpected,'” Lynch said, during an interview with ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt on Monday.

“But just as far as right now, what I do know is, Imma keep it solid. My agent [Doug Hendrickson] has been in talks with Seattle, so like I said, we’ll see what happens. If it works out and I get back up there, it is what it is. And if not, s—, I’m lookin’ good. So I ain’t really trippin’ too much.”

Both Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny are coming off of season-ending injuries, so the Seahawks are in need of backfield depth.

Lynch could make around $1.05 million if he returned to play in 2020, based on his time in the NFL.
