USC will be ending their disassociation with former superstar running back Reggier Bush as the university’s 10-year disassociation period is nearing an end, according to ESPN’s Kyle Bonagura.
Back in June 2010, the NCAA sanctioned USC for a lack of institutional control after finding Bush had received improper benefits.
According to the report: “The timing comes as a result of an NCAA Committee on Infractions rule, adopted in 2017, that limits any mandated disassociations between an individual and a school to no more than 10 years. Bush’s disassociation —which came as part of sweeping sanctions that included a two-year postseason ban, 14 vacated victories (including the 2004 BCS national championship) and the loss of 30 scholarships—began on June 10, 2010.”
Bush returned to USC’s Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for the first time last September as a broadcaster for FOX, and had recently spoken about the sanctions calling it “one of the worst feelings in the world”, according to The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman.
Bush was selected second overall by the New Orleans Saints in the 2006 NFL draft, and would go on to play for the Miami Dolphins, Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, and the Buffalo Bills before retiring in 2017.
