Houston Astros ace Justin Verlander is disputing that his right forearm strain injury will keep him out for the rest of the 2020 season.

Verlander took to his official Twitter account to clarify the extent of his injury — “The report that I’m currently missing the rest of the season is not accurate,” Verlander wrote. “There is a forearm strain … I’m hopeful that with some rest it will heal, and I’ll be able to return soon. Thank you for all the well wishes.”

Verlander is refuting a report from the Houston Chronicle that stated that the injury would cost Verlander the remainder of the season.

Verlander started the Astros’ season-opener on Friday, an 8-2 victory over the Seattle Mariners, going six innings, striking out seven while giving up two runs on three hits and giving up only one walk.
