The Atlanta Braves are bolstering their outfield unit by signing free agent veteran outfielder Yasiel Puig, according to ESPN reports.
The Braves signing Puig comes in response to outfielder Nick Markakis recently opting out of the 2020 season due to health concerns amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Puig gave the Cleveland Indians a big boost when they acquired him in a three-team trade that sent Travor Bauer to the Cincinnati Reds on July 30th, 2019, and he went on to hit .297 while providing power to move past the Minnesota Twins to capture the American League Central title.
Puig will instantly help a rather depleted Braves outfield, and the team is hoping that he can carry over his success with the Indians to his new team in 2020.
