Houston Rockets superstar guard Russell Westbrook has tested positive for coronavirus as the team prepared to travel to Walt Disney World for the resumption of the NBA season.
Westbrook made the announcement on his official Twitter page saying; “I tested positive for COVID-19 prior to my teams departure to Orlando” Westbrook stated.
I’m currently feeling well, quarantined, and looking forward to rejoining my teammates when I am cleared,” Westbrook wrote.
“Thank you all for the well wished and continued support. Please take this virus seriously. Be safe. Mask up!”
Westbrook was one of three players who had yet to report to the Walt Disney World campus, along with James Harden and the recently-signed Luc Mbah a Moute, but it is currently not clear if they delays of Harden and Mba a Moute are related in any way to COVID-19, or for other reasons.
Westbrook has averaged 27.5 PPG, 8.0 RPG, and 7.0 APG for the Rockets over 53 games this season, his first with the team since being acquired from the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Now, both the Rockets and Westbrook will have to see if he can join the team in Orlando over the next few weeks.
