Minnesota Vikings super star running back Dalvin Cook has been holding out as he tries to land a new, lucrative, long-term deal with the team, leaving his status for training camp a bit up in the air.

The Vikings recently locked up their head coach, Mike Zimmer, to a new long-term contract and during a conference call to discuss that new deal, Zimmer said that Cook told him he will show up at training camp on Tuesday, when veterans are set to report.

However, Cook’s agent Zac Hiller has a different story.

According to ESPN’s Courtney Cronin, Hiller says that the conversation that Zimmer is referring to never happened.

“First, congrats to Coach Zimmer on his well-earned extension,” Hiller said, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. “However, Dalvin has not spoken to him in regards to reporting to camp. We are unsure why this was said. I hope Dalvin can continue to play a major role in the Vikings’ future success.”

According to the NFL Network, Vikings running backs coach Kennedy Polamalu said that Cook told him he plans to report to training camp.

“Dalvin and Coach Polamalu speak often as they have a great relationship. Dalvin has never mentioned to him anything in regards to reporting to camp,” Hiller said. “I’m not sure where the miscommunication is. I hope Dalvin plays a major role in the Vikings’ future success.”

Cook and the Vikings seem to be on opposite sides when it comes to training camp, but Cook’s camp seems determined to land a new, long-term contract before ending their holdout and reporting.
