The San Francisco 49ers are taking a shot on oft-injured veteran tight end Jordan Reed, signing him to a one-year, incentive laden contract, according ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Reed, 30, missed all last season with a concussion, which marked the seventh documented concussion since he began playing college football, and Reed has never played a full season due to a number of injuries.

Reed was a big part of Washington’s offense, when healthy, with his biggest season coming back in 2015 when he caught 87 passes for 952 yards and 11 touchdowns, while playing in a career-beast 14 games.

His 2015 season led to Washington inking him to a five-year extension worth up to $50 million, but he was severely limited by injuries over the next three seasons.

Reed hauled in 329 passes for 24 touchdowns for Washington during his career, after being selected in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
