Twitch Prime will be officially re-branding and will now be called ‘Prime Gaming’ as the company continues to shift and organize it’s content to more specific genres.
Prime Gaming will be Amazon’s effort to “make it clearer” to members, and falls in line with other Amazon branded products and offerings such as Prime Video, Prime Reading, and Prime Music.
Twitch emailed partners saying that Twitch Prime rebranding to Prime Gaming will offer ‘more opportunities to grow viewership’ to twitch streamers moving forward.
While the name is changing, members can expect the same benefits that they have been used to when they signed up for Twitch Prime, so you can still receive exclusive in-game content, free games, and a free monthly Twitch subscription to use on your favorite twitch channels, per usual.
It’s yet another move as Amazon continues to develop, build, and diversify it’s commitment to gaming. Amazon has a game development facet called Amazon Games (which is behind ‘Crucible’), and is also rumored to be getting into the cloud gaming arena in the future as well.
