Yankees Acquire Rob Brantly from Giants

1 Min Read

The New York Yankees have acquired veteran catcher Rob Brantly from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for cash, and have officially assigned him to their alternate training site, according to an official team announcement.

Brantly, 31, appeared in only one game for the Giants this season prior to being designated for assignment, and went 0-3 during that lone game.

The Yankees needed depth at catcher behind starter Gary Sanchez, as backup Kyle Higashioka is on the injured list with an oblique strain, and veteran Erik Kratz currently taking his place.
