Giants Sign Devonta Freeman

1 Min Read

The New York Giants have found their replacement for injured running back Saquon Barkley, signing veteran running back Devonta Freeman to a one-year deal worth up to $3 million, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

According to Freeman’s agent Drew Rosenhaus, Freeman, 28, “turned down more money from other teams because he likes the opportunity with the Giants best.”

Freeman had drawn interest from the Seattle Seahawks and the Philadelphia Eagles during the offseason, but turned down both opportunities.

In a corresponding move, the Giants placed wide receiver Sterling Shepard on the injured reserve, which created a spot on the roster for the addition of Freeman.
