The New York Jets seem to be running out of patience with head coach Adam Gase following their whooping at the hands of the Indianapolis Colts that dropped the team to 0-3 on the season.
There is no arguing that Gase is completely inept as a head coach, and has done nothing for the Jets or the career of quarterback Sam Darnold, leading fans to call for his firing since late last season.
Now, it appears that the Jets are about to agree, and it may lead them to give up on Darnold as well. The Jets have lost their three games of this season by a total of 94-37, and have been outscored 59-13 in the first half of those losses.
According to the New York Post’s Mark Cannizzaro, the Jets may fire Gase after Thursday night’s game against the Denver Broncos.
And it appears that the franchise may be ready to turn the page on Darnold as well, who has struggled mightily, especially as they seem destined to be in the mix for the first overall pick in the NFL Draft, which would assumingly be Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
“I’m not playing consistent enough to play well in this league,’’ Darnold said, per the report.
“I’m going to do what I always do — come to work tomorrow,’’ Gase said. “I’ve got to focus on getting our guys right.’’
