The Houston Texans were rumored to be signing free agent safety Earl Thomas, who was schedule to visit the team on a workout this week, but it appears that the brakes have been pumped on Thomas joining the Texans.

According to the Houston Chronicle’s Adrian Wilson, Thomas’ workout was nixed as head coach Bill O’Brien said it was due to the league’s most recent COVID-19 advisory.

But now, a bit more light has been shed on what’s going on with Thomas and Houston.

According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the Texans do not currently see Thomas as a great fit for their locker room, which isn’t hard to believe given Thomas’ bitter exits from the Seattle Seahawks and then the Baltimore Ravens.

Now it appears that the Texans will stay put with Justin Reid and Eric Murray as their safeties, and Thomas will again hit the free agent market in search of a new team.
