Yankees’ James Paxton May Not Return This Season

new york yankees

The news keeps on getting worse for the New York Yankees, one of the most disappointing teams and most injury-depleted teams of the 2020 season.

According to the New York Daily News’ Kristie Ackert, starter James Paxton will go the next couple days without throwing after feeling soreness following Wednesday’s session.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone made the announcement during an appearance on WFAN, and it seems as though that Paxton could miss the rest of the season, and a potential Yankees playoff run.

Paxton, 31, has dealt with injuries throughout his career, but his Yankees tenure has been riddled with injury and inconsistent performances. Given that Paxton is in a contract year, it’s unlikely that the Yankees will bring him back on a lucrative deal, if they bring him back at all.

Over 5 starts this season, Paxton has posted a dismal 6.64 ERA.
