Cowboys’ La’el Collins Out for Season

1 Min Read

The Dallas Cowboys will be without starting right tackle La’el Collins for the rest of the season, according to NFL.com’s Jane Slater.

Collins is set to undergo season-ending surgery on his hip, which has been bothering him lately, on Wednesday, according to the Dallas Morning News’ Calvin Watkins.

Rest and treatment did not seem to help Collins, who has not played this season and will remain on the injures reserve, which has led to the decision for surgery. This will mark the second time Collins’ season has been cut short by injury, as he suffered a toe injury that shelved his 2016 season after three games.

The loss of Collins is a huge blow for the Cowboys, who have also been without left tackle Tyron Smith for the past two games.

According to ESPN’s Ed Werder, Dallas will likely turn to undrafted free agents Terence Steele or Brandon Knight to take Collins’ place in the starting lineup on Sunday.
