Washington’s Joshua Garnett Announces Retirement

1 Min Read

Washington Football Team’s veteran guard Joshua Garnett is officially retiring from the NFL, per an announcement from the team.

Garnett, 26, will not focus on non-football endeavors as he steps away from the game.

Garnett was selected with the 28th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers, but never lived up to his draft position, and his pre-draft hype as an impressive offensive lineman.

Despite starting 11 of 15 games as a rookie, Garnett could not hold down the starting job and eventually fell out of favor in San Francisco.

Garnett played in just 22 games between 2016 and 2019, and was active for only 3 games for Washington.
