New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold has again been limited by injuries this season, but he is not ready to opt for shoulder surgery just yet.
According to ESPN’s Rich Cimini, Darnold has consulted with several specialists regarding his shoulder issues, but says that the possibility of undergoing shoulder surgery is “not on the table”.
With the Jets 0-9 on the season so far, Darnold has little to play for, but his future is in serious doubt with the Jets likely to be in a good position to draft Clemson superstar quarterback Trevor Lawrence in the 2021 NFL Draft, should he officially declare, as expected.
Darnold’s value has taken a significant dip since he came out of USC. A dysfunction Jets organization, injuries, and a lack of development have all factored into Darnold’s diminishing value. However, due to his age, an NFL team is likely to take a chance on him should he become available this upcoming offseason.
