Las Vegas Raiders head coach Jon Gruden is taking full responsibility for the Raiders’ embarrassing blowout loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, one that put a major dent in their playoff hopes.
“I’d like to apologize to the Raider Nation and compliment the Falcons. They played a hell of a football game, and we did not. The turnovers. The penalties. Inexcusable, and it’s a reflection of me. We’re a lot better team than that.” Gruden said, according to Yahoo Sports’ Luke Staub.
The raiders not only gave up 43 points in the loss, but were hit for 11 penalties that totaled in 141 penalty yards.
“When we got hit in the mouth with the 4th-and-1, the stop. Then we fumble the next play. We’ve got to get off the mat and fight back better as a coaching staff and as a football team. That’s something that we’ve got to take a look at. Like I said, it’s a reflection of me. I apologize to the Raider fans.” Gruden continued.
The Raiders will be looking to get back on track in Week 13 as they take on the winless New York Jets, who just lost to the Miami Dolphins.
