Twitch has had a busy week in the wake of a rather chaotic GlitchCon 2020 and Twitch Rivals tournament that saw a number of prominent twitch streamers hit with bans.
One of the most notable, was a ban on xQc for cheating (for 6 months), a story that dominated twitch news headlines this week and has caused a ton on controversy within the community.
The incident took place last weekend during a Twitch Rivals event. Twitch Rivals is a series of gaming tournaments sponsored by the Amazon owned platform.
Twithc Rivals officially announced that xQc, Nightblue3, Mendo, GrandPooBear, and Tfue all were found to have violated their terms of conduct, and said that each will be met with disciplinary action, and all but Tfue, will be hit with a temporary suspension from Twitch.
xQc was caught stream sniping when his team was competing against fellow streamers Benjamin “DrLupo” Lupo and Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek.
On further review of GlitchCon, we have found that, in addition to xQcOW, players Nightblue3, Mendo, GrandPooBear, & Tfue violated our conduct rules. Their actions will result in a disciplinary action from Twitch Rivals & for all but Tfue, a temporary suspension from Twitch. pic.twitter.com/b2gaqxHpcI

The streamers all run some of the most popular twitch channels on the streaming platform, so this is a major development in the industry, and further example of how Twitch is now governing their community.
