Bill Belichick Mum on Patriots Quarterback Situation

2 Min Read

The New England Patriots may be ready to move on from quarterback Cam Newton following the latest loss to the Miami Dolphins last Sunday, and perhaps it’s time that the team takes a look at signal caller Jarrett Stidham during the final two games of the season.

But head coach Bill Belichick isn’t tipping his hand on what the team plans to do moving forward.

“We have a lot of team questions we need to answer, so I think that will be the overriding thing,” Belichick said, during an appearance on WEEI’s Ordway, Merloni and Fauria (h/t Pats Pulpit). “We’ll talk about that today, tomorrow — we have an extra day this week — and then start from a bigger picture standpoint. Obviously, haven’t played the run well the last two weeks and haven’t been able to score a touchdown the last two weeks, so I don’t think this is about any one individual.”

For now, the Patriots will be going through their normal processes before coming to a decision as to which quarterback will start under center moving forward.

“We haven’t set any timeframe on that,” Belichick said of the decision at quarterback. “I don’t really see it going that way. We’ll go through our normal weekly process and make the decisions that we feel are best for the game in everything.”
