The Milwaukee Bucks set a new mark for 3-pointers field goals made as they sank 29 in their 144-97 rout over the Miami Heat on Tuesday night.
Oddly enough, the only Bucks player not to hit a three-point shot during the record-setting performance was reigning MVP and Defensive Player of the Year Giannis Antetokounmpo, who scored only 9 points, his fewest point total since December 22md, 2019.
Milwaukee finished 29-for-51 (56.9%) from beyond the arc.
“Some nights the basketball gods are with you a little bit, and it’s probably one of those nights for us,” Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer said, according to ESPN’s Eric Woodyard.
“It’s exciting. Happened to be in the right place at the right time, happened to make the shot,” Bucks forward Sam Merrill said. “The way that we shot it Sunday night [against the Knicks], we kind of felt like we were going to have a great shooting night tonight. It’s pretty crazy the way everybody shot it, so it was a lot of fun.”
“It’s great to see, but I think that shows the trust in Giannis that he doesn’t have to put his head down and try to create the offense himself,” Bucks star wing Khris Middleton said. “He realizes that he has shooters around him. If these guys see a crowd or two, three guys around him, he can find that open man.”
Middleton continued his impressive play this season for Milwaukee, posting 25 points to go along with 5 assists and 4 rebounds on a scorching 10-13 shooting night.
