Amazon has made major strides in providing sports content on it’s popular video game streaming platform Twitch and those efforts have been on full display with this week’s ‘NFL Holiday Blitz’ on Twitch and Prime Video.
It all kicked off during Monday night’s tilt between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cincinnati Bengals, a game that saw the Bengals pull of the shocking upset. The event continues on Christmas Day when both Prime Video and Twitch offering streams of the Minnesota Vikings vs. New Orleans Saints.
Hannah Storm, Andrea Kremer, Bucky Brooks, Daniel Jeremiah, and Joy Taylor will call both matchups on Prime Video. Andrew Hawkins, Cari Champion, Von Miller, Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson and Chris Long will man the twitch streams broadcasting duties.
NFL alums and pop culture figures like Action Bronson, Andrew Hawkins, Brandon Aiyuk, Dan Gamache, James Koh, Kay Adams, Kenyan Drake, Kickasso, Kyle Long, Quavo, Ron Everline (JustTrain) and Victor Cruz will appear in shows that Amazon has scheduled for the week leading up to the Saturday exclusive stream of the Arizona Cardinals/San Francisco 49ers game.
The 49ers/Cardinals game will be available to more than 150 million paid Amazon Prime members worldwide, and in more than 240 countries and territories excluding China, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland and Spain, according to Deadline.
“We hope Prime members around the world are gearing up for a safe and happy holiday season, and we are looking forward to delivering the gift of football on Prime Video this weekend,” Marie Donoghue, VP of Global Sports Video at Amazon said. “With multiple announcers to choose from, Next Gen Stats, and on-demand replays from X-Ray, the NFL on Prime Video has a little something for everyone, giving fans more optionality and deeper insights into the action on the field. We can’t wait for kickoff.”
The events mark an increased focus on sports content, and those efforts are making twitch news headlines this week with the NFL helping spotlight the content on Twitch.
