Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow’s impressive rookie season was cut short after he suffered a torn ACL and MCL during the Bengals loss to the Washington Football Team in Week 11, but he already expects to make his return to the field just in time for Week 1 of the 2021 season.
According to ESPN’s Ben Baby, Burrow expects that he will be under center when the Bengals kick off the 2021 regular season.
“I think I’ll be ready. I think it’ll be just fine” Burrow said of his chances to start Week 1, per FS1. “I wanted to finish out the year and finish strong,” Burrow told FS1. “I thought there were a lot of winnable games in this part of the schedule that we had. And then the injury happened, and that was devastating for me.”
Whenever Burrow returns, he will be with head coach Zac Taylor, whom the team decided to retain following their 4-11-1 season.
“I think Zac is going to be a great coach for a long time,” Burrow said. “I’m happy to be in the position that I’m in and to help build this organization, but it’s going to be on Zac’s back. He’s the leader of what we’re trying to do, and he’s awesome.”
