Chiefs Early Betting Favorites in Super Bowl LV

2 Min Read

The Kansas City Chiefs are doing something that has rarely been done to future Hall of Famer Tom Brady – making him an underdog in the Super Bowl.

According to ESPN’s David Purdum, the AFC Champion Chiefs opened as consensus 3-point favorites over Brady and his Tampa Bay Buccaneers for their upcoming tilt in Super Bowl LV. Some sportsbooks moved the Chiefs to -3.5, and if no significant shifts happen it will be a notable line.

Brady has only been an underdog twice in his 10 Super Bowl appearances. This includes Brady’s debut in the Super Bowl back in 2002, when his New England Patriots were 14 point underdogs to the St. Louis Rams.

Brady led the Bucs to the NFC Championship on Sunday, when they defeated the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field, which sent the Bucs to the Super Bowl for the second time in franchise history.

The 43-year old Brady will be the oldest player to ever play in a Super Bowl.

The Chiefs, led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes, beat the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship game to head to their second consecutive Super Bowl appearance.

The Chiefs won Super Bowl LIV.
