Philadelphia 76ers head coach Doc Rivers is calling on former Los Angeles Clippers assistant Sam Cassell to work with Sixers’ star Ben Simmons in helping him being his unique game to the next level.

“Sam, you give him to players, he has done a great job,” Rivers said of Cassell, according to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer. “It is more than about shooting. It is his post game, his passing. How to play the unique position that he plays.”

Simmons is not the normal NBA player, and is undefined by a true position, be Rivers is dedicated to helping him become the best player that Simmons can be.

“He is not a point, not a two, not a three, he is a ballplayer” Rivers said.

“We put him in every spot on the floor, literally every spot on the floor. Having a guy like Sam explain to him what we are looking for is really what we are trying to do here,” Rivers said.

Simmons has poured in 12.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, 8.0 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocks for the Sixer this season, and Philly is off to a rather strong start to the 2020-2021 regular season.

Simmons reaching the next level of his game could be the missing ingredient that helps push the Sixers to the top of the Eastern Conference.
