The Houston Texans are expected to hire longtime New England Patriots executive Nick Caserio as their general manager, according to the Houston Chronicle’s John McClain.

The hiring officially closes a long and odd pursuit by the Texans, who attempted to hire Caserio back in 2019, but were stopped due to his contract with the Patriots.

Caserio was again mentioned when the Texans fired head coach and general manager Bill O’Brien during the 2020 season, and now he officially joins the organization.

Caserio, 45, spent the past two decades in the Patriots organization, and now looks to right the ship in Houston. His first task will be to find a new head coach, one that can be a significant upgrade from the team saw during O’Brien’s tenure.
