Athletics Sign Trevor Rosenthal

1 Min Read

The Oakland Athletics have signed veteran closer Trevor Rosenthal, who had been seeking a four-year contract during the free agency period, to a one-year, $11 million contract, according to ESPN.

Rosenthal, 30, reportedly had multi-year contract offers on the table, but preferred to take the Athletics’ offer of a higher annual salary and save opportunities, after the market proved to be rough for free agents this offseason.

Rosenthal, a right handed reliver, posted a 1-0 record with 11 saves and a 1.90 ERA over 23 appearances for the Kansas City Royals and the San Diego Padres during the 2020 pandemic-shortened season.
