Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady isn’t set to call it a career just yet, and in fact he may have a couple more Super Bowl runs in the tank before he officially retires following Tampa Bay’s blowout victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV.
With the victory, the 43-year old Brady picked up his seventh Super Bowl win and was also named Super Bowl MVP for the fifth time in his illustrious career. Brady has more Super Bowl titles (7) than any franchise in NFL history.
“This team is world champions forever, you can’t take it away from us,” Brady said, according to ESPN’s Brooke Pryor. “We’re coming back.”
Brady also spoke about the big plays the Bucs made during the game, such as long time teammate Rob Gronkowsi and running back Leonard Fournette.
“It’s great to see big-time players making big-time plays,” Brady said. “Just love what they added to the team. Gronk is an unbelievable player, teammate, talent, work ethic and commitment. A.B., since he got here, he’s done everything the right way. So impressed by him, proud of him. It takes a lot of people for us to get to this point. We all have great support systems in place, and I think everybody should be celebrating them tonight.”
“It’s hands down one of the greatest accomplishments in sports history,” Gronkowski said. “I mean, I’m not going to say it’s the greatest, but it’s up there for sure.
“To come down here to Tampa, come to an organization that was ready to win, come down here with the players — they’re all fantastic players, great guys — just everyone overall, the story is unbelievable and it definitely ranks up there with one of my biggest accomplishments ever.”
“When we got Tom, that makes you a contender,” Bucs veteran wide receiver Mike Evans said. “He’s like LeBron (James). Whatever team you put him on, they’re going to be a contender. They’re going to be a tough team to beat.”
