Dodgers, Walker Buehler Agree to Two-Year, $8 Million Deal

The World Series Champion Los Angeles Dodgers and pitcher Walker Buehler avoided arbitration by agreeing to a two-year, $8 million contract that could raise to $12.12 million if he makes regular starts this season and wins the Cy Young Award.

Buehler gets a $2 million signing bonus which half of will be paid on March 1st, and the other half will be paid on January 15th, 2022. Buehler’s salary for this upcoming season witl be $2.75 million and will be $3.25 million in 2022.

Additionally, the 26-year old Buehler’s 2022 salary would raise by more than $1.12 million if he wins the 2021 Cy Young Award or by $625,000 if he is second or third in the 2021 Cy Young voting results.

Buehler posted a 1-0 record with a 3.44 ERA over eight starts during the shortened 2020 season, and went 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA over four postseason starts.
