Dolphins Name Eric Studesville, George Godsey Co-Offensive Coordinators

1 Min Read

The Miami Dolphins have ended their search for a new offensive coordinator by opting to go with the unique approach of having co-offensive coordinators, promoting two in-house candidates to the gig.

According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the Dolphins have named current running backs coach Eric Studesville and quarterbacks coach George Godsey as their new co-offensive coordinators.

The Dolphins tested out this format at the Senior Bowl, where head coach Brian Flores and his staff coached the National team, allowing both coaches to call offensive plays for one half. With Chan Gailey gone, the Dolphins have been on an extensive search for his replacement. Given the familiarity of both coaches, and in the spirit of consistency, this is the direction that the Dolphins decided to go.

Godsey served as the Houston Texans offensive coordinator, under Bill O’Brien, from 2015 to 2016.

Studeville has coached 24 seasons in the NFL, but this marks his first run as an OC.
