Karl-Anthony Towns Dedicated to Building Legacy with Wolves

3 Min Read

Despite a horrific season that has resulted in a change at head coach, Karl-Anthony Towns remains dedicated to building a legacy with the Minnesota Timberwolves, a legacy that includes a winning culture.

Towns is the unquestioned franchise cornerstone in Minnesota, and with rookie Anthony Edwards looking like a future superstar, the Wolves look like they have two essential building blocks to make waves in the future.

Minnesota also has guard D’Angelo Russell, but it can be argued that he may not be a solid fit for the Wolves’ future.

Regardless, Towns is dedicated to weathering the storm to see the Wolves franchise ascend to new heights, and out of the cellar of the Western Conference, moving forward.

“If you want to build a legacy we got to win” Towns said, according to the Star Tribune’s Chris Hine. “And I want to build my legacy here so I want to win with the Wolves, and I’m going to do everything I possibly can to keep step-by-step, brick-by-brick, building something and a culture here that’s going to stand here for a long time.”

Minnesota will now look to replacing former head coach Ryan Saunders, who was fired on Sunday, and the Wolves have hired Toronto Raptors assistant Chris Finch as the franchise’s new coach, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Saunders compiled a record of 43-94 as head coach of the Timberwolves in his two-plus seasons at the helm.

“Chris brings a wealth of basketball experience from his time in the NBA, G League and Internationally. He is one of the most creative basketball minds in the NBA, has success maximizing players, and I am excited to see him bring our team to the next level and beyond,” Timberwolves president of basketball operations Gersson Rosas said in a statement officially announcing Finch’s hiring.

“I would like to thank [owner] Glen Taylor and Gersson Rosas for this incredible opportunity to be the head coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves,” Finch said in the statement. “I look forward to working hand and hand with Gersson to build and lead a team that Timberwolves fans will be proud of. We have excellent pieces in place and I can’t wait to get to work.”
