Patrick Mahomes Undergoing Surgery for Turf Toe

1 Min Read

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is set to undergo surgery to fix the turf toe injury that had bothered the superstar signal caller late in the regular season and throughout the NFL playoffs, according to ESPN’s Adam Teicher.

Mahomes is expected to miss most of the Chiefs offseason work but he is expected to be a full participant by the time the team’s training camp kicks off.

Mahomes is coming off one of the worst statistical performances of his career, during the Chiefs 31-9 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV where he completed 26 of 49 passes for 270 yards, two interceptions and no touchdowns to finish with a passer rating of 52.3.

Despite the injury, Mahomes wouldn’t tie it to his on-field performance.

“I can’t say the toe was a problem when I played two weeks ago and I played well on it,” Mahomes said. “Anytime you play football, you have to battle through injuries.”
