The Chicago Bears have placed the franchise tag on superstar wide receiver Allen Robinson, as the organization follows through with their talk of not letting Robinson hit the free agent market this offseason, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Robinson has been hit with the franchise tag for the last two seasons by the Bears, and the team went through with the tag despite Robinson indicating that he did not want to be franchised tagged again.
The Bears now have some time to work out a new, long-term contract with Robinson, but it is also possible that they work out a tag-and-trade with an interested team. It’s worth noting that Chicago has shown interest in some of the available quarterbacks this offseason.
