Broncos Franchise Tagging Justin Simmons

1 Min Read

The Denver Broncos are ensuring that star safety Justin Simmons won’t be hitting the free agent market this offseason as they will be applying the franchise tag on him, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.

The move doesn’t come as a surprise as the Broncos have publicly spoken about how valuable Simmons is to their team, calling him a part of the core of their unit while also stating their desire to work out a long-term contract with him.

Simmons received an $11.4 million salary due to the tag last year, and now that Simmons will be hit with another franchise tag, Simmons 2021 price tag would rise to $13.7 million for the 2021 season.
