Dolphins Looking to Re-Sign Ted Karras, Davon Godchaux

The Miami Dolphins are looking to re-sign pending free agents such as veteran center Ted Karras and veteran defensive tackle Davon Godchaux to new deals, according to the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson.

Miami has already communicated their desire to work out a new contract with Karras, who came in from the New England Patriots last season and had a solid season in 2020, starting all 16 games and playing all offensive snaps for the Dolphins.

Godchaux was limited to only five games in 2020 due to a biceps injury, but was a reliable starter for the Dolphins during the 2018 and 2019 seasons, where he started all 32 games, however it could be more financially challenging for the Dolphins to re-sign Godchaux, with Godchaux’s agent Drew Rosenhaus saying that Miami may not be able to afford his client given their current investments in defensive lineman Christian Wilkins, Raekwon Davis, and Zach Sieler.

“Davon is one of the most talented defensive tackles, I believe, and the Dolphins would have to be able to compensate him in that capacity,” Rosenhaus said, per the report. “I’m not sure that they will, given the talent they have on the team. We’ll see if the Dolphins are able to step up and be competitive with other teams that may not have as much talent at the defensive tackle position.”
