The Atlanta Falcons are signing former Carolina Panthers running back Mike Davis to a two-year, $5.5 million contract, which $3 million is guaranteed, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
Davis was a big help for the Panthers last season when star running back Christian McCaffrey suffered an ankle injury during the fourth quarter of Carolina’s Week 2 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, coming in to take the reigns from McCaffrey.
Davis, 28, would go on to start 12 games for the Panthers, as McCaffrey would miss 12 games due to various injuries (ankle, shoulder, quad), and would finish the 2020 season logging a career-high 642 yards to go along with 6 rushing touchdowns. Davis also added a career-high 59 receptions for 373 yards and 2 touchdowns.
