Lakers Eyeing Andre Drummond In Potential Buyout with Cavaliers

The Los Angeles Lakers will be looking to the free agent market to address the absence of superstar big man Anthony Davis as they continue with their regular season following the All-Star break, and they seem to have targeted two veterans, Demarcus Cousins and Cleveland Cavaliers big man Andre Drummond.

According to the New York Time’s Marc Stein, the Lakers will be giving strong consideration to Drummond should he depart from the Cavaliers via a contract buyout, which seems unlikely given the Cavs preference to trade Drummond prior to the March 25th trade deadline.

Cousins hasn’t generated much interest, and Drummond would be a near-impossible trade to pull off given his $28.8 million salary, which is why the Lakers would need Drummond to be bought out, and hit the free agent market, in order to sign him.

Drummond is drawing interest on the trade market, and would draw considerable interest should he hit free agency soon, which makes it hard to imagine the Lakers being able to land Drummond.
