The Brooklyn Nets and six-time All-Star forward Blake Griffin have agree to a contract that will bring the former Detroit Piston to Brooklyn following his buyout last week, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
With the Nets projected to be in the luxury tax next season, Griffin was only offered a $5.9 million taxpayer mid-level exception to join the team, but will earn $29.8 million from Detroit next season, according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks.
Griffin, 31, averaged 12.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 20 games for Detroit this season, and now will serve as a small-ball center alternative off of the Nets’ bench. Griffin will reunite with former Los Angeles Clippers teammate DeAndre Jordan.
